Vehicle Specifications
Year: 1936 Make: Cadillac Model: V16 Series 90 Seven Passenger Touring Sedan
This car was purchased new in 1936 by the owner's grandmother. It has been in the same family since new. The original build sheet lists the color as a special order "Radium Blue". The Godess hood ornament was ordered in silver plate, and the dual side-mount spares were also a special option enabling the use of the small trunk for other purposes.
The interior showed simple elegance and included a pair of jump seats with full backrests which are concealed when not in use. It also came with silk shades for the rear windows, wide sliding assist straps, and solid walnut trim formed around all the windows with intricate inlays and burled veneer on the belt mouldings.
The sixteen cylinder engine displaces 452 cubic inches and produces 185 hp., which is enough to briskly move the 6320 lb. car. It has a single "Detroit Lubricator" updraft carburetor for each bank and seperate dual exhaust. The chassis has a wheelbase of 154 inches, and was the longest wheelbase made. Bumper to bumper it measures 20 feet and 1 inch. It also has a fully synchronized three speed transmisssion that makes shifting simple.
In 1936, with the depression in full swing, few of these large, expensive, and semi-custom cars were produced. Cadillac made only 52 V16's that year and, of those, only 24 were liomusines with fleetwood coachwork.
This car is a pleasure to drive with it's smooth ride and effortless steering, and it will easily keep up in modern traffic. It is very comfortable around town or on the highway.
